Amanda Scroggs, District Media Services Coordinator, had the opportunity to visit Lincoln's library and meet Mrs. Deck's apprentice today. This Lincoln Lion saved her Lincoln Bucks to earn the reward of "Librarian for a Day." How cool is this!!! We can't wait for her to come to Lakeview & continue her apprenticeship here! #Experience Lincoln #ExperienceLakeview #ExperienceWCS

A community & global partnership opportunity has been embraced by Lakeview students who have risen to the challenge - donating boxes of books from their homes to partner with a local organization, Blue River Digital, for a global cause. Through givingbasics.org, students learned that Malawi is ranked as one of the poorest countries in Africa. Their main language is English, which makes the offer of books easy. Giving Basics is a new nonprofit started by Weston and Amy Sigler in Columbia City, Indiana. They have worked in Africa for over 23 years, and have served in Malawi for the last 5. Giving Basics hopes to fill a container with library supplies including tables, whiteboards, and as many books as possible. Books that are needed: Early Reader books k-3rd grade level. English as a second language booksGrammar and Creative writing textbooksGeography booksWorld History booksNational Geographic magazinesAnimal Science booksFull-color Biology / Science / Health books/ Physics and ChemistryMath textbooks from any grade levelSelf Help books: gardening, agriculture, electricity, plumbing, windmill, animal farming, car maintenance, Biblical resources of any kind. Picture Bibles, Study BiblesNewer Encyclopedia sets. Thanks to all who have contributed toward filling a container with books. Please reach out to Amanda Scroggs at Lakeview Library or to Amy Sigler at Blue River Digital if you would like to donate books. #ExperienceLakeview #ExperienceWCS

Students at Lakeview Middle School recently had the chance to meet author Abi Zimmerman. As part of the "Lunch with an Author" program, Abi engaged students in discussions about her Sci-Fi novel, Echo 208. During Tiger Time, more students participated, asking questions and delving deeper into Abi's writing process, publishing journey, and plans for a sequel. Lakeview Middle School librarian Amanda Scroggs commended Special Education Teacher Stacy Mikel for organizing the visit. A signed copy of Abi's book will be available for students to borrow. Special thanks to Abi Zimmerman for inspiring young writers and sharing her passion for literature at Lakeview. #ExperienceLakeview #ExperienceWCS

Let's Go Lakeview! We are raising money for Pi Day! From now until Wednesday March 14, we will be collecting money during lunch. This will help our Lakeview PTO with things they want to do for our school. Whichever homeroom collects the most money will get a pizza party AND get to pie Mr. Braddock, Mr. Leek and Officer Fuller in the face! Please help us raise money and support our PTO! #ExperienceLakeview #ExperienceWCS

Today in Tiger Time, students from Mrs. Boggs’s class played with fire! These students chose to read Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 over Christmas break. They came back and passed a test over the book with at least 80% accuracy. Mr. McCollom set up an engaging lesson over the combustion point of different materials. This was such a fun way to celebrate the hard work that these students elected to do. #ExperienceLakeview #ExperienceWCS #Science #McCollom #Boggs
